OSCE - The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe
(OSCE) is a security organization whose 55 participating States span the geographical area from Vancouver to Vladivostok. In its region it is the primary instrument for early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation. Its www site contains information about the organization, has an on-line document archive, with documents concerning summits, ministerial meetings, the permanent council journal, the Forum for Security Co-operation Journals, the annual reports of the OSCE, has a news section with press release, has links to long-term missions of the OSCE, and other OSCE Field Activities. International Helsinki Federation IHF
The IHF is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that seeks to promote compliance of the states participating in the OSCE with the human rights provisions to which they committed themselves in the Helsinki Final Act and its Follow-up Documents, as well as with relevant international law. Based in Vienna, the IHF represents 39 Helsinki Committees and cooperating human rights groups in Europe and North America. "The Kuijpers Resolution, which was passed by the European Parliament on 30 October 1987, instructed the European Commission to bear the interests of the smaller languages in mind in extensive areas of education, the media and local and regional administration. The Mercator project is part of a programme of initiatives designed to improve the status of these languages and to raise substantially the level of material support accorded to them. The Mercator Project is a group of thematic networks, with the European Commission acting as coordinator.
