Bibliography on Ethnic Relations in CEE after 1989

An annotated bibliography
Copyright by Margit Feischmidt fmargit@btk.jpte.hu

This annotated bibliography has grown from a larger project titled Managing Multicultural Communities which was initiated by LGI in 1996. The project identifies and distributes knowledge on innovative local policy-making practices in solving and preventing ethnic conflicts and pursuing multicultural politics in local communities in Central and Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States. This bibliography gathers articles, books and other publications written after 1989 on the issues of ethnic relations in the region. The annotated list includes major writings that address the complexity of problems related to nationalism, ethnicity, and multiethnic communities in current transition and offer significant empirical findings. This bibliography may serve further policy analyses and reform-oriented projects in different countries and communities yet may inform scholarly investigations as well.

This bibliography, like any bibliography, incomplete by nature. Therefore the present database could be and should be enriched by the users by adding items that our search might have missed or ongoing research will generate in the future. Hopefully, this database will also encourage the creation of similar bibliographies in local languages in the region.

The editor of the database encourage all users of the database to become contributors. Contributors will be acknowledged in the revised database.
