| Abstract |
Anti-Semitism in Czechoslovakia, particularly Slovakia, is examined through review of several representative surveys. The population of Slovakia demonstrates higher wariness toward Jews than the Czechs, even though in recent times the Jewish population in Slovakia has decreased. Anti-Jewish attitudes in Slovakia can be seen as a metaphorical and condensed expression of an antiliberal orientation behind which lies social and political insecurity, frustration, authoritarianism, cultural isolation, and general national intolerance. |
