| Abstract |
The relationship between ethnic identity, social support, and cooperation with outgroups was investigated via questionnaire in a sample of sixty Belorussians and sixty-two Poles living in the same Polish village. Analysis indicated that Poles manifested higher ethnic identity, social support, and prosocial behavior than the Belorussians, but the latter were more willing to cooperate with the Poles than vice-versa. Correlation analysis revealed linkages between the measured dimensions in the Belorussian group only: ethnicity was more strongly salient in social support and in-/outgroup activities, while the dominant Poles identified more strongly with nation and country. |
