| Abstract |
Powerful nationalistic forces were and are behind the process of transformation in postcommunist countries. The authors argue thet the economic and political transformations have created a cognitive chaos which has undermined the already worn social bonds. The typical reaction to this is a re-creation of bonds on the base of extant values. Different chapters of the volume deal with constitutional nationalism and the problems of the newly defined citizenship and its effect on the national minority issue. |
