Abstract Reviews patterns of migration among Yugoslavs toward developed capitalist countries, drawing on census and statistical data. Four key issues are examined: (1) migrants' motives for leaving; (2) their opportunities for assimilation; (3) the moral and cultural implications of leaving their homeland; and (4) their readiness to change their way of life. The effects of massive migration on Yugoslav society are also discussed.
